Men's Intermediate Round 2

12 May 2014 by Diarmaid Gallagher

11th May 2014 – 1:00pm

Half Time 2-02 – 0-10
Full Time 2-04 – 1-14

Coming off the back of a defeat the previous week to St. Finbarrs in Round 1, the Shams were keen to rectify things this week against a strong Southern Districts side. With 10 minutes gone, Shamrocks were trailing 0-06 to 0-01 but thanks to a well taken goal on the 10th minute the gap was narrowed. This was followed shortly after by a point to reduce the gap to the minimum. Another goal 20 minutes in let the Shamrocks take the lead for the first time in the game and things were looking up after a strong start from Districts. Districts followed up with 3 points to go in at half time leading 0-10 to 2-02.

The Shams came out strong in the second half with 2 unanswered points to make it a drawn game. The team was playing with great heart and determination, however Districts were to end the game the stronger of the 2 teams with 1-04 with no reply which all but sunk a very committed Shamrocks outfit. All in all it was another impressive display by our Intermediates who are struggling with a few injuries. Some great performances on the day from Philip (Pip) Sheil in goals, Diarmaid Flanagan and the deadly forward line of Shamrocks Veterans Ciaran Gallagher and Raymond (Bish) Reilly.

Our Intermediates are out this Friday 16th May against Morley in Tom Bateman, Get down in your numbers to support our lads.
